Background: On July 3rd, 2009, fellow river rat paddler, Belton Dykes, passed away while paddling. Belton was an avid paddler, outdoorsman, retired Physical Therapist, Army veteran, Citadel student-athlete, caver, racketball player, music lover, friend, beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He is greatly missed by many.

To honor his memory, his friends decided to organize a fun paddling event. The proceeds of this fundraiser will go to Team River Runner, which is a non-profit organization that gives disabled and wounded military veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan and their family members an opportunity to find health, healing, and new challenges through whitewater boating and other paddling sports.
